Taiwandering to Taiwan

Taiwan or Bust

Taiwan. The other side of the planet. The flip side. The opposite side. The converse, inverse, and obverse of my little universe. Said little universe is about to get a lot bigger, because Taiwan is where Chloe and I are heading. I was hoping that typing it out made it less surreal, but it doesn’t. I don’t think it’s really going to sink in until we’re in that plane and somewhere over the Pacific Ocean.

Two years ago Taiwan was a place on the “Would Love To Go There Someday” List. Through a series of unexpected twists and turns in our path, that “someday” is here. Meeting Joseph and embracing all that came along with him has lead us to this point (East Asia’s Influence on my Life).

Figurative to Literal

This blog started as a figurative journey into East Asia, with Joseph as the Taiwanese gateway. I intended to learn all I could through reading, researching, and interacting with people from this part of the world. Now it’s moving into the realm of a literal journey and Taiwan is still the gateway.

I am about to be immersed in the culture that has always run through the fabric of my life and I positively can not wait to be surrounded by it all. The culture, the language, but most of all the people of Taiwan. I do have apprehensions about the unknown, but not enough to keep me here. So I’m literally Taiwandering to Taiwan. Huh. Never saw that one coming. I’m glad for it all the same.

But first we need to get through Chloe and Joseph’s graduation and all that entails. This is going to be a crazy month. Bring it!

Discussion: Where do you want to go in the world? How can you make that happen?
